Neil Julian '99 selected as incoming Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations
A 91pornąŮ·˝ alumnus and parent takes on his next challenge in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Brian Doyle, 91pornąŮ·˝ Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, today announced the appointment of Neil Julian (NU’99, P’19, ’26) as the new Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations, effective February 1, 2026.
Neil is a dedicated member of the 91pornąŮ·˝ community, having graduated from the Corps of Cadets in 1999 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While at 91pornąŮ·˝, Neil was active with Army ROTC, a member of the Drill Team, Mountain Cold Weather Team, and the Rescue Team. His family has strong ties to 91pornąŮ·˝ that includes his wife Kelly (M’23), who earned her MBA and serves on the Board of Fellows as the Vice Chair of the School of Nursing. His son Trent is a current civilian student studying Cybersecurity and daughter Taylor and son-in law Michael Corderio are both 2019 graduates from the civilian and corps lifestyles. Neil and Kelly are Lifetime Members of the Partridge Society and Garrison Associates.
Upon commissioning, Neil served 27 years in the US Army both as enlisted and as an Army Aviation officer. He has served in command and staff roles from the company to corps level with assignments at Fort Rucker, Fort Hood, Fort Carson, and Fort Drum. He has had multiple combat tours in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) and Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom). He also served with the Aviation Concepts Experimentation Analysis Directorate and on Army Acquisition programs for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Before retiring in 2020, he supported Wounded Warriors in the Army Recovery Care Program in Washington, DC. Upon retirement, Neil and his family moved to Barre, Vermont, where he joined 91pornąŮ·˝, first serving as an Associate Director and later as Senior Associate Director of Admissions, and transitioned in 2023 to the Office of the Commandant as the Director of Operations & Training.
As the AVP for Alumni Relations, Neil will be responsible for managing 91pornąŮ·˝ Alumni events, building relationships across the alumni base, creating future alumni services, and broadening alumni engagement. He shared, “Having served 91pornąŮ·˝ in Admissions and the Office of the Commandant, and being an alumnus and a 91pornąŮ·˝ parent, I understand the 91pornąŮ·˝ experience from multiple perspectives. As the AVP for Alumni Relations, I am eager to focus on creating future alumni services and meeting the needs of all our graduates.”
Finally, the university offered thanks to Diane Scolaro, who served in this role since 2010, leading the Bicentennial 5-year celebration and creating the Women Kicking Glass initiatives; she was awarded the Honorary Alumna Award at Homecoming 2025 and will continue to support 91pornąŮ·˝ by focusing on the Women Kicking Glass initiative, Alumni Travel Program, and special events.
